Light is the source of the whole universe; as light hits the surface of things, it shapes them and gives them depth by accumulating shadows behind things. Along the edges of the surfaces, light and darkness coalesce, and while revealing intermediate proportions, they take on a special shape and are perfectly interconnected. Natural light is one of the elements that has a great impact on changing the nature of the interior of the building. We can direct the light into the building in a clear and distinct way, and therefore by creating areas of light and darkness, divide the integrated space into separate sections without using separating elements and materials. Light also enhances the height of the building and the size of the space.
Walls, floors, and ceilings all block the light from entering the building, and their presence creates a complex intermediate space as light flows back and forth between them at the same time. Space is born with the entrance of light, however, with any change in the angle of light penetration, the existence of objects and their proportions are recreated. In other words, space never begins to complete, but is constantly renewed.
The light that moves according to time deeply reveals the existence of architecture in relation between man and nature. Light gives existence to space and connects form to space. When light changes with the passing of time and the change of seasons, the appearance of things changes as well. Light makes sense in the ratio between architectural elements.
Inside and outside
There are no clear boundaries between inside and outside, but they have a mutual influence on each other. Light gives beauty and rain gives color to life with the effect it has on the human body. Architecture is a medium that enables man to feel the presence of nature. Nature in the yard offers a different look every day. Patio or yard is the core of life that flows in the house; and a means of showing natural phenomena such as light, wind and rain that are forgotten in the city.
By designing open patios, the sky blends in with the architectural spaces and integrates; the sky can be seen when closed spaces suddenly reach open spaces. The patio connects the interior space to the outside. This patio is a means to highlight a part of nature. Patio is an important place where seasonal changes are received directly through the senses and the appearance of nature changes every moment. Sunlight, wind and rain affect the senses and diversify the life. In this way, architecture becomes an intermediary with which man confronts nature. Architecture must remain silent and allow nature to speak in the form of sunlight and wind. The quality of sunlight changes over time. Maybe in a moment it slowly penetrates the space and sinks into it like a blade. It seems that a person can reach out and hold the light in his hands. Wind and rain change shape in the same way as seasonal changes. They can be cool or mild and pleasant. They activate the atmosphere, inform us of the seasons, and cultivate a purer sense in us.
In my opinion, architecture is constructing worlds outside of architecture. The external space I am talking about does not simply mean building an external volume or facade. Rather, it refers to an interior space that is located on the border between outside and inside. When the interior space ends, the exterior space begins and the beginning of the interior space is formed at the end point of the exterior space.
Obviously, their external spaces are the result of the interaction between inside and outside. Indoor and outdoor spaces are the permanent foundations of architecture. At different times, in order to create potential for future architecture, interior and exterior spaces have been moved or joined together.
