Shiraz is mostly known as “city of Gardens” and the term garden and green space plays an important role in designing in Shiraz, on the other hand, relation of the architecture with the Challenge of land use, and the meaning of the green areas in the cities are important factors to concentrate. In Shiraz, tradition of developing the city was to build a garden out of city boarders for recreational of family life on the weekends.
Since Shiraz grows gradually these gardens, become the residential places regarding the protection of the “Gardens” as “city garden” and new gardens built to keep this tradition of urban planning. Unfortunately, this procedure shifted to uncontrollable urban developing. It is obvious the changes of Shiraz are inevitable but finding a solution for the issue of city development and building gardens (as identification of Shiraz) is necessary in order to keep the tradition of urban development.
An interesting type of gardening in Shiraz is called Baghe-e-Takht, which divides the garden into different levels. This method brings back the memory of wright’s falling water house to produce the ceilings in the space in addition to the concept of “roof garden”, different levels also produce spaces underneath to answer the issue of Iranian life and increase the green surface.
