Tehran, Iran - June 28, 2023 - The highly anticipated Comma competition 1402 took place at the prestigious Villa Tarang on Wednesday, June 28. The event brought together architects, designers, and enthusiasts to celebrate the role of "detail designing" and "industrial design" in contemporary architecture.
An emotional start to the event as a minute of silence was observed to honour the tragic loss of the son of a respected jury member, Mrs. Azam Eskandari in the Comma Competition 1402. The competition showcased the remarkable talent and creativity of Iranian designers, with participants presenting their innovative designs to a distinguished jury panel. After careful deliberation, the winners were announced amidst great excitement and applause.
The first-place prize was awarded to "Mrs. Haniyeh Sirjani + Mr. Javad Safdarian" for their exceptional design that seamlessly blended functionality with aesthetic appeal. Their attention to detail and unique approach captivated both the jury panel and the audience. "Hamidreza Sadeghi" took the second place and third place for "Omid Shojaie + Masoud Khorrami".
As an architect, it is essential to understand the importance of “detailed design thinking” and “industrial design considerations” in improving the architectural qualities of a building. These two factors play a crucial role in creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing structure that meets the needs of its occupants said Amirabbas Aboutalebi, Architect and Editor in chief of the Villa magazine. In addition to recognizing outstanding architectural achievements, the jury panel engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on the significance of such competitions in today's contemporary architecture scene in Iran. They emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between professionals and academia to foster collaboration and innovation within the industry.
"The Comma competition serves as a vital platform for architects and designers to showcase their skills while also encouraging dialogue between academia and professionals," said Mr. Bahman Javadian, one of the esteemed members of the jury panel. "It is through such initiatives that we can push boundaries and redefine architectural practices in our country" added Mr. Payam Firouzeh. The event witnessed an enthusiastic turnout from both established professionals and aspiring students alike. The presence of renowned architects further added to the prestige of this competition, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and motivation for all attendees. The success of Comma competition 1402 can be attributed not only to its focus on detail designing and industrial design but also its ability to unite professionals with academic institutions.
