A Manifesto for Villa Design

Villas, Context, and Society: A Manifesto for Sustainable Villa Design

The first academic conference on Villa ideology and Villa typology in Iran was held at the Art and Architecture University of Mazandaran.

This conference was presented by Amirabbas Aboutalebi concerning the social dimension of Villa-life and Villa-culture in Iran and the environmental impacts of the notable Villa-needs of the city dwellers in Iran in order to get Villa-purposes and natural benefits.

This manifesto proposes an approach to Villa purposes; Health, Joy, andRelaxation that I am interested in exploring during my time doing architecture at AA Design studio. For the purposes of this manifesto I will advert to the definition proposed by Jason McLennan who asserts that sustainable design: “seeks to maximize the quality of the built environment while minimizing or eliminating negative impact to the natural environment.” I find this definition particularly useful in the emphasis which it places on quality.

The critical panel Dr. Babak Daroush, Dr. Ruh alah Rahimi, and Dr. Nosrat Alah Goodarzi  welcomed the idea and put their comments on the proposal.

The first academic conference on Villa ideology and Villa typology in Iran was organized by Shekh E Bahaie academic institute with the generous support of the The Iranian National Commission for UNESCO and the Villa Magazine.
