Biography:
B.Arch. FRAIA DIAWA
Project Role: Principal Architect, Project Manager, Project Design Architect
Neil Cownie formed his architecture and Design practice ‘Neil Cownie Architect’ in 2009 where the focus is on providing clients with ‘hands-on’ boutique service. Neil’s studio explores the parameters of each project to find an outcome unique to the site and client.
One of the key qualities that helps Neil Cownie Architect stand out from other companies in the industry is that Neil is the point of contact all the way through projects for his clients, genuinely involved in every aspect of each design, through design development, documentation, and on-site administration. “I am capable of designing efficient affordable housing sub-divisions and their passive environmental houses on the scale of 110 houses, while at the same time designing multi-million-dollar houses. I bring something to each end of the scale. I consider myself as much an interior designer as an architect, which I feel is crucial to any success when it comes to designing any housing type or hospitality.
“Clients get me 100 percent involved in all areas of the service. Every project and every detail leaves my hand as a hand-drawn design or detail before it is then electronically converted. When it comes to what I consider to be the very important stage of selection and scheduling of materials and finishes, both the research and technical scheduling is all handled by me. It is unusual that the experience that I have is offered to all aspects of projects completed in this way.”
