Biography:
Hans Gangoly, professor at the Institute of Design and Building Typology at the Faculty of Architecture at Graz University of Technology since 2007, founded his architectural practice in Graz in 1994. Since Irene Kristiner joined the firm in 2007, it has operated under the name Gangoly & Kristiner Architekten. In the meantime, Dominik Troppan and Alexander Freydl have joined the management as partners, running offices in Vienna and Graz employing around 15 staff.
Architecture's power of imagination is still needed for the spatial order of an increasingly complicated world, and only architecture takes a holistic view of the form, appearance, convenience and comfort of these spaces. Even if the challenges and responsibilities are more complex than ever before. Designing and building are therefore cultural tasks and must be fulfilled with demands that go beyond functional and economic interests. Only then do values actually arise.
