Biography:
Ali Kermanian was born in September 1964 in Tehran. He received his master's degree in architecture with an excellent rating in 1990 from the Bartlett School of UCL University in London. He immediately taught as an assistant at the same university and at the same time worked in two architectural offices, Price and Dusek. Returning to Iran in 1991, he started teaching at the Islamic Azad University of Tehran, Central Branch. After a year in 1992, he was appointed the Head of Faculty of Architecture.
At the same time, in 1991, he established his own office entitled Ali Kermanian & associates in Tehran. He has helped to execute and oversee nearly 160 projects and is active in prestigious industry events. In 2019, Kermanian and "Delaram Bolourchi partnered together to form the "Nian Architects" office.
In 2007, he was a member of the jury for the Me'mar Award. Two years earlier, he was one of four Iranian representatives in the Union of International Architects. He has served as a Project Manager for Shiraz Trade Center in association with the "Shirdel and Partners" office. In addition to appearing in domestic and international forums as a speaker and architectural competitions jury, Ali Kermanian has carried out valuable research and cultural activities in the field of architecture with a particular interest in "architectural criticism." He has also published numerous articles in domestic and international journals. He wrote the book "Architecture Beyond Architecture" in 2009 on contemporary Iranian architectural problems. He strongly believes in creating an independent architectural organization in the country. He was one of the founders of the "Tehran Institute" and later one of the founders of the "Architects Together" group.
